G2012MR Segment 4: WAW to AMS

Frederic Chopin WAW Airport

On Sunday, February 5, 2012, it was time to leave Warsaw. I woke up that morning in Sonia’s house, to my last home-cooked meal (for now!) from her lovely mother. It was a great breakfast, though I didn’t want to leave which caused me to pick at my food a bit. I loved every second of my short stay in Poland, and I’d made many new friends; Warsaw had been quite good to me.

Sonia called a taxi for me soon after, and when it came, we hugged and said goodbye. The taxi drove me back to Warsaw’s Frédéric Chopin Airport and I walked inside after mentally saying goodbye to this frigid land full of warmth and happiness. My flight was with KLM airlines, a partner of Delta Airlines who I had booked the flight with on my Great 2012 Mileage Run. Flight #1364 would depart Warsaw at 12:55pm and arrive at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol at 3:05pm.

Though the flight was supposed to last two hours, it arrived in just over an hour and a half, and I walked inside Schiphol Airport for the second time in three days. KLM has some great service, and I enjoy flying with them. A non-eventful flight to Amsterdam, where I would stay a night before heading to Paris the following day.

Warsaw, I’ll be back soon!
