“Quito, capital of Ecuador, García Moreno street in the historic centre of the city. The Virgin of Quito is seen in the background.” – From Wikimedia Commons.
Further down the road, there is the white Catedral Metropolitana (Cathedral of Quito) on the left of the street, basically facing the presidential palace on the right side of the street. In the far distance, you can see the statue of the Virgin of Quito, erected in 1977 on El Panecillo, which is the round hill with the buildings on it. The statue is a replica of a sculpture made in the 18th century by Bernardo de Legarda, a sculptor of the Quito School.
