Riga already has a library of the same name, but they are moving into a architecturally-gorgeous new building in 2014. Situated right on the banks of the Daugava River which runs through Latvia’s capital city, at the foot of the Stone Bridge, the new building is a pleasing landmark and great navigational aid on the skyline.

The architect of this project is one of the most famous of Latvia’s architects, the renowned Gunārs Birkerts. The building will open at just the right time, since Riga has been chosen as the European Capital of Culture for 2014.
