The Aasee is a pristine, man-made lake in the center of the city of Münster, located in Germany’s North Rhine-Westphalia region. Built originally as a reservoir to keep the nearby rivers from flooding, the Aasee is now a gathering spot for locals and university students alike, where at anytime of day one can see dozens of people biking, jogging, or strolling along its banks.
The Aasee is also a good home for other attractions in the city of Münster: the Museum of Natural History, the Münster Zoo, and a horse museum are located on the lake, making it a must-visit area should you tour Münster someday. For more information on the Aasee, check out this article ->
Be sure to ask the weather gods for a beautiful day, the kind I was fortunate enough to witness on the one I took these photos; it may be rare when the sun comes out in Münster, but when it does, wow!
