I’m stepping away a bit from the normal weekly photo to post (repost) this one. A while ago, on my Great Northern Italy Adventure, I went to change some money in a bank in Milan. I walked in, and immediately noticeable were the video monitors overhead. It was apparent that they were security installations.
Italians, I often muse, can be confounding people. Don’t get me wrong – I love their warm and passionate culture like no other, but some things just stun me; at the time, and still now even, this was one of them.
The video on each monitor was showing the security guard at the desk. Now, true, maybe they meant to do this, but I couldn’t help but wonder if they’d perhaps accidentally switched some input or output or something. Instead of footage that I’m familiar with as a customer, which is myself staring back at me, the customers at this bank would all watch the security guard as they went about their transactions. Is it just me, or does this not make sense?
