This week’s photos are of the famous Wawel Castle & Cathedral complex located in Poland’s arguably most beautiful city, Kraków. Built for Casimir III the Great in the 1300’s, the Gothic Renaissance architecture is probably one of the most-visited sites in Poland.
The Wawel Castle is also the setting for the famous legend of Smok Wawelski, the “Dragon of Wawel Hill.” To read about the legend, see this article, and for more photos of the dragon statue on the outskirts of Wawel’s grounds, see this post.
** These photos were probably taken by my dear friend and travel companion, Joseph Chakola; if not, then I might have taken them using his trusty camera (an iPhone 6).
