  • easyJet maxes Pax on planes – In an attempt to save money, the budget European airline is reducing legroom and even removing toilets from some aircraft. (USA Today)
  • Delta gives up slots at JFK to assuage EU – Several SkyTeam airlines, including Air France, KLM, Delta, and Alitalia, agreed to give up landing and takeoff slots on routes to and from New York City to resolve a European Union antitrust probe. (Bloomberg)
  • US Airways may be defunct by Oct – As soon as autumn of this year, the American Airlines company may do away with the US Airways brand, as well as merge their booking systems. (Forbes)
  • Mecca may soon have largest hotel – The planned Abraj Kudai hotel in Saudi Arabia would take the title of world’s largest, with its planned 10,000 rooms in 12 separate towers. (AB)
  • Amtrak train derailed when speeding – An Amtrak passenger train along the Northeast corridor of the US derailed and has killed 8 people so far, as it was doing 106 mph, twice the speed limit. (NYT)
