Bridgetown is the capital and largest city of the tiny island-country of Barbados. It is located within The Parish of Saint Michael, at the southwest corner of the island-country. As of 2014, it has an estimated population of just over one hundred thousand, which is about one-third of the entire country’s population.
Grantley Adams International Airport is located 13 km (8 mi) southeast of Bridgetown and serves as the main airport for the country, with daily flights to cities in North America, Central America, South America, the U.K., Europe, and other cities in the Caribbean. A bus terminal in the center of the city has frequent buses to and from all major points elsewhere on the island.
Bridgetown is a great city to visit for a proper Afro-Caribbean island feel. The people are warm and friendly, the weather is amazing, and the food is legit.
